President Director’s Message
The Jakarta Multicultural School (JMS) understands that the world has become interconnected and that relationships between countries from the North to the South and from the East to the West are always multicultural in character. There is no single country in this world that does not have to address diversity issues. No matter what nationality, religion or culture you are coming from, we must work together to make the world a better place to live in. JMS believes that our students should be exposed to the variety of beliefs, cultures, customs and traditions. Exposure to diversity will make our students respect that people have the right to be different. It will also allow them to develop the capacity to lead by acquiring the ability to manage diversity in constructive ways. At JMS we provide learning experiences through which knowledge, skills, attitudes and action encourage the development of creativity and problem solving capacities to meet global challenges that come in different shapes and forms. At JMS we treat differences as assets, not as liabilities. JMS welcomes you to our big and diverse family by providing a bully free school environment that provides students with comfortable and supportive learning environment. Our international curricula, the International Baccalaureate Organization’s (IBO) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) as well as the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) guide students to become conversant and knowledgeable in various subjects as well as to embrace diversity close to their heart.Edriana Noerdin

I am taking four classes now. Intro to American Politics is eye opening, Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences is useful, and Politics of Identity and Youth Culture are fun. A large issue of going to university is the shift. Professors may seem intimidating and finding friends may be an issue for many students. For me, JMS’ more intimate classroom atmosphere made talking to teachers easy and the whole class was generally family. I started going to JMS in Grade 1, so the person I am today is largely based on its principles.

I am really enjoying my time as a newcomer and freshman in Jakarta. Being introduced to a new culture makes me realize the diversity of Indonesian customs and tradition. I am learning Javanese now! Academically I am doing fine since I have learned English well at JMS.
I have recently found my other passion than singing, which is being a Master of Ceremony for Faculty events. And I am continuing my singing career as well. I have joined a Faculty-based singing group that discusses music and performs together in various events.

I was 12 years old when I first came to JMS and my English skill was a total 0. The only one word I could say was `OK`. JMS teachers and students were very nice and kind, and they communicated with me using verbal and body language. The teachers praised me for every step I made and everyone was very supportive. JMS was a sweet and warm second home for me.
